A paramedic gave treatment to an elderly woman after a microwave oven caught fire in her flat in Hove last night (Wednesday 20 July).
She was treated after breathing in smoke by a paramedic from the South East Coast Ambulance Service.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “On (Wednesday) 20 July at 9.21pm crews from Preston Circus and Hove responded to a small fire in a microwave at a property on Amber Court, Holland Road, Hove.
“The fire was out on arrival. One person was left in the care of ambulance staff.”
The ambulance service said: “One paramedic car attended the scene following reports an elderly woman was potentially suffering from smoke inhalation.
“The woman was treated at the scene but didn’t require hospital treatment.”
