Firefighters treated one person for the effects of breathing in smoke after a fire started in a second floor flat in Hove.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said yesterday (Friday 15 July): “At 6.07am this morning three appliances from Hove and Brighton were sent to Westbourne Place, in Hove, after persons were reported inside a property.
“The fire was located on the second floor and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one main jet, one hose reel, to tackle the fire and the positive pressure ventilation fan to blow smoke from the building.”
In a separate incident, the fire service said: “At 8.17pm yesterday (Thursday 14 July) two Brighton appliances were mobilised to Cuckmere Way, Hollingbury, in Brighton, where they rescued one elderly person shut in a lift.”
