Firefighters rescued an 18-month-old child from a high-rise block of flats in Hove yesterday afternoon (Friday 15 July).
The fire service said: “East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was mobilised to a high-rise property in Hove at 1.38pm following reports of an 18-month-old inside the property.
“The call was reported after a mother, who had been cooking, became locked out of the property in Clarendon Road, Hove.
“Four appliances from Hove, Preston Circus and Roedean, including the aerial ladder platform, along with the command support unit from Lewes, attended.
“Crews gained entry and the child was safely reunited with its mother.”
So by all accounts the mother nipped outside, and in doing so locked herself out leaving something cooking and her small child alone.
One can only say that it was a moments laps in her actions.Luckily the fire services were called out and they did a wonderful job rescuing the toddler.
