Journeys to and from Brighton have been delayed this morning after a train derailed at the depot as the morning rush hour got under way shortly before 6am.
Southern said: “Delays to Southern services to and from Brighton expected until 8.30am
“A derailment within the depot at Brighton is causing delays of up to 20 minutes to trains to and from Brighton.”

However, yet more delays are expected because of an ongoing shortage of conductors on Southern services. Govia, which owns the franchise, says this is due to members of the RMT union calling in sick. The RMT says it is due to short staffing.
Southern services have been suffering from a lack of available conductors since the RMT started strike action in April.
How much longer are the authorities going to allow the circus that is Southern trains to get away with this sorry excuse for a service. People are losing their jobs now!!. Wonder how much the Southern chiefs will take in their bonus package this year.
