Brighton Kemptown MP Simon Kirby is encouraging organisations to apply for grants from the Coastal Communities Fund as the government makes a £36 million pot of funding available.
Mr Kirby said that applications can be made from today (Monday 23 May) for projects aimed at reviving Britain’s coastal communities.
This is the fourth round of funds released by the government. In a previous round of funding the Saltdean Lido Community Interest Company was awarded £2.3 million.
And the Youth Hostels Association (YHA) was given a six-figure sum towards the conversion of the Royal York Buildings into its Brighton hostel.
Applications are welcome from councils, charities, companies and voluntary groups with the Big Lottery Fund running the selection and evaluation process.
Mr Kirby said: “The aim of the fund is to support the economic development of UK coastal communities by awarding funding to projects which will deliver sustainable growth and jobs.
“This is a great opportunity for coastal communities in Brighton Kemptown and Peacehaven. I am hoping that local groups will seize the opportunity this new bidding round offers.”
The deadline for applications is Thursday 30 June. For more details, click here.
