A police chase through Brighton streets ended this evening when the driver abandoned his car at a park.
The pursuit began when the driver failed to stop for officers in Freshfield Road at about 6.30pm.
The car was spotted by residents speeding through nearby streets including Queen’s Park Road with a police car giving chase.
Shortly afterwards, the car was abandoned by Queen’s Park and the driver made off on foot. Seven patrol cars arrived at the park, along with sniffer dogs.
A man has now been arrested and is in the custody of Brighton Police.
A police spokesman said: “There was an incident involving a vehicle which failed to stop in Freshfield Road.
“There was a chase through Brighton which lasted for five or six minutes. The driver ran off.
“A man has now been arrested in the park and will be spending some time with us answering questions.”
