The Level’s fountains have been hit by technical difficulties yet again, delaying this year’s switch-on for the foreseeable future.
A faulty pump means that although paddling pools at the city’s other playgrounds are now up and running, children will have to wait longer for summer splashes at the Level.
This is the second time gremlins in the system have delayed the switch-on since they were installed in 2013. The following year, they were not switched on until June, although last year they operated through the summer with no problems.
A message on the council website says: “A fault with the pump has delayed the summer switch-on. Once the fault is fixed, we have to do extensive tests to ensure we meet rigorous water quality standards. The fountains are managed by Freedom Leisure.
“We will update with further information shortly.”
I live pretty near the Level and I actually didn’t even know there were fountains, that’s how often they don’t work.
I went down there loads with my daughter last yr and they was rarely on….I’d rather pay the ridiculous bus prices and take her to Saunders park then waste a day relying on the level fountains to be up and running
GET RID OF THE FOUNTAINS AND PUT A POOL BACK IN!!!!!
