At least eight Brighton and Hove taxis have been broken into over the past month by a thief or thieves who stole hundreds of pounds.
Sussex Police said today (Thursday 7 April): “Police are warning taxi drivers in Brighton and Hove city to be on their guard after a number of thefts from unattended taxis over the last month.
“There has been eight offences over the last four weeks with taxi windows being smashed and cash stolen.
“This has happened when taxi drivers have parked in various streets in the city and left their vehicles unattended. Amounts stolen have varied from £30 to £170.”
Inspector Brian McCarthy said: “We are advising taxi drivers to remove all cash from their vehicles when they are leaving them unattended.”
