Have you ever wondered what happens to your general waste that can’t be recycled after it is collected for disposal? Or have you ever wondered how we use that rubbish to generate electricity?
The Newhaven Energy Recovery Facility is giving residents the opportunity to find out with an open day this Sunday from 10am to 3pm.
Guided tours will be running throughout the day with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and discover how we transform waste into enough electricity to power 25,000 homes continuously.
Allan Key, General Manager for Veolia South Downs says: “We think this is a fantastic opportunity for our neighbours and local residents to come and explore what happens at our facility. We hope people will come to meet us and gain an inside view on how we are working behind the scenes on their behalf!”
Tours must be pre-booked by calling 01273 511324. On booking, specific arrival and clothing instructions will be given.
Veolia South Downs has a 30 year contract for the delivery of an integrated waste management service across East Sussex and Brighton and Hove.
