Controversial plans to build a multi storey tower on Hove seafront have been withdrawn.
The Hyde Group have withdrawn the current application for the proposed development at the former Sackville hotel, in order to make some amendments to the scheme.
But it says it will be resubmitting a revised scheme shortly, after further discussions with local residents and other stakeholders.
A spokesperson said: “The need to build new homes and regenerate parts of Brighton and Hove is common ground between Hyde, local residents and other community stakeholders.
“In the coming weeks, Hyde will be preparing and submitting amended plans for the site, which has been a derelict eyesore for far too long.
“We would like to thank the large number of local community members that supported this scheme throughout the detailed and thorough public consultation.
“Hyde is committed to engaging with the local community in relation to a number of proposed alterations to the plans and we will be announcing details of the revised scheme in due course.”

It was obvious a refusal was on the cards. Hyde wasted £24,000+ on the planning fee and whatever they paid Yelo to draw up a plan for this absurd overdevelopment, against all planning policy guidance.
Shame on Hyde – such an irresponsible scheme!
What a terrible shame, I loved this design, this would have been an iconic building of the future, for our future city. I totally agree with Cllr Tom Bewick that Hove seafront should not be treated as a museum. I also disagree that the plans were irresponsible. The city has a need for homes and the seafront is in need of investment. I hope to see the amended plans looking just as exciting and bold!
