Police are urgently appealing for the owner of a silver VW Polo which was recovered from the scene of a fight in Marine Parade, Brighton, on Saturday night (5 March) to contact them.
Officers have been unable to trace the owner of the vehicle to check his welfare and find out what happened.
The registered keeper of the vehicle is Ilias Marinakis from Hove and officers would like to speak to Mr Marinakis or to hear from anyone who has information about his whereabouts.
Detective Inspector Andy Wolstenholme said: “At this time, we do not know if Mr Marinakis was injured in the incident, or even if he was present, but we are keen to ensure that he is well and identify if he has been the victim of a crime.
“We are grateful to everyone who has contacted us about this incident. We are still investigating and trying to establish exactly what happened and would be pleased to speak to any witnesses yet to come forward.”
Officers were called at around 8.45pm following reports a silver VW Polo and silver Mazda had collided. It is believed there was then an altercation between a group of men who were thought to be passengers in the vehicles, which resulted in at least one man being assaulted.
The Mazda was driven away but the Polo remained at the scene and the driver had left the scene.
