The cold weather has led to the closure of two council buildings this week after their boilers failed to rise to the challenge of January’s plunging temperatures.
Visitors to the Booth Museum yesterday were disappointed to find the doors closed, and a notice informing them it was closed “due to circumstances beyond our control”.
Repairs are due to be made today while the library is closed as usual in the hope it can be reopened again tomorrow.
And Coldean Library is also due to close early today, at 5pm, due to a faulty heating system.
A council spokeswoman said: “The boiler’s broken so the Booth Museum was closed yesterday – it’s closed on Thursdays anyway.
“A repair person is due today so will know later on whether or not it will be fixed in time for opening tomorrow.”
Why did they have to close the museum? Just say “sorry, the heating’s broken today” and if people still wanna go in (keeping their coats on), they can.
The only way you can get to the Booth Museum in he first place is by being OUTSIDE, are they going to close parks in winter too in case anyone catches cold whilst out walking their dog?
