Southern has been shortlisted as finalists in the national Rail Business Awards, in five categories including rolling stock excellence, customer information and safety and security.
The train company has been recognised for its rail neighbourhood officers, who as well as issuing 2,700 tickets to fare dodgers have also given out 37,075 antisocial behaviour warnings and contributed to 340 arrests since 2009.
The company’s Class 387/1 trains are also shortlisted in the rolling stock excellence, and a poster, leaflet and video campaign to promote the assistance services Southern offer to passengers.
The new Hassocks station has also been nominated for station excellence. Winners of the awards will be announced on 25th February 2016.
