Burglars have stolen a safe containing more than £1,000 in cash from Carats Café in Southwick.
Sussex Police said: “The intruders broke into the café in Basin Road South sometime between 4pm on Wednesday 18 November and 4.10am on Thursday 19 November.
“A metal safe approximately 2ft by 2ft was removed from a rear kitchen storage area.
“This contained £1,187 along with legal documents giving personal details.
“Further cash was taken from two till floats and another smaller safe. Considerable damage was caused to gain entry to the café.
PC David Slade said: “This burglary appeared to be organised and pre-planned. There was a considerable impact to their business as a result.
“The café is a very popular place for the local community, workers or people just enjoying the beach.
“If anyone saw anything suspicious or odd in the days leading up to this, or have just heard something, let us know.”
Any witness or anyone with information is asked to phone Sussex Police on 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk.
