Burnley 1 Brighton & Hove Albion 1
Albion maintained their unbeaten league record, stretching the run without defeat to an amazing 18 matches.
The Seagulls scored after just 57 seconds as Dale Stephens drilled the ball into the penalty area. Tomer Hemed hit a shot on the turn which was deflected into the path of Bobby Zamora via the crossbar for him to tap home his third of the season. Solly March was also involved the build up.
However, before the Albion had finished celebrating, from the next attack Lewis Dunk and Micheal Keane tussled in the penalty area.
Referee Simon Hooper, well known to Albion fans, adjudged that Dunk had a handful of Keane’s shirt and gave a penalty. In-form Andre Gray dispatched the penalty to restore parity.
The first half saw David Stockdale made a good save from Rouwen Hennings and Zamora heading just over from a Bruno Saltor cross.
Then Zamora’s old QPR team mate Joey Barton went close for the home side and before half time the Zamora – Bruno combination saw the Seagulls legend head just over again.
The second half was a fairly tight affair to start with although a tiring Zamora raced clear to send in a great cross for March who couldn’t quite get his head on it when well placed. It was Zamora’s last contribution before being replaced by Jake Forster-Caskey.
Beram Kayal had a good effort from distance but it will be the Clarets who will be most aggrieved not to take all three points.
Scott Arfield drilled a clear chance the wrong side of the post as Albion failed to clear their lines and right at the end Chris Long, unmarked in the six-yard box, stabbed a loose ball wide of the goal with Stockdale already committed.
Unbeaten Albion take on Birmingham City next Saturday (28 November) at the Amex.
