Hundreds of people cheered and applauded as more than 400 veteran cars drove into Brighton yesterday afternoon.
The London to Brighton Veteran Car Run started in a foggy Hyde Park, travelling through Croydon, Redhill and Crawley with the first cars arrived at sunny Brighton at about 10am.
This year’s theme was America, with a celebration of US car marques.
TV presenter Chris Evans, who joined Ken Bruce and Alex Jones on vintage buses filled with bidders who raised funds for the BBC’s Children in Need, told the BBC: “It was very smooth and brilliantly well-marshalled.
“We had lovely coffee stops on the way, a great coffee stop in Crawley, croissants and coffee courtesy of Harrods. Who doesn’t want to be at that on a Sunday morning?”

The drivers were able to enjoy the warmest November weather on record, with temperatures reaching 22.4C in west Wales – although it was somewhat chiller at 13C in Brighton.
