Back in the inaugural Football League season in 1888, Preston North End, today’s visitors to the Amex, were the champions and won the title without losing a match all season.
Some 127 years later the Albion, as we approach November, are the only undefeated team in England.
Glasgow Rangers, so far, have achieved the same record in the Scottish Championship.
Preston also won the FA Cup that season (April 1889).
Arsenal were the last undefeated English champions on their way to the Premiership title in 2004.
This season for Albion is a far cry from their 1988 campaign. That season the Seagulls didn’t win a match under Barry Lloyd until October.
