Hundreds of businessmen and women have signed up for Brighton and Hove Chamber of Commerce Big Summit which is taking place today (Friday 16 October).
The theme of the summit is growth, with a keynote speech from Jim Duffy, who set up Entrepreneurial Spark to promote business start-ups. Entrepreneurial Spark recently opened in Preston Road, Brighton.
Mr Duffy will talk about overcoming the barriers that stop so many people from living their dreams, such as their inner critic, fear of failure, uncertainty and lack of confidence.
Another keynote speaker is Nikki Gatenby, the managing director of Propellernet, one of Britain’s most progressive search marketing agencies.
She will talk about doing what you love and making it work for you as a growth strategy for anyone with an ambition.
There will also be seminars, workshops and networking. Among those sharing their knowledge, ideas and experiences will be Brandwatch founder Giles Palmer, Kristin Forbes, from the Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee, and internet entrepreneur Arjo Ghosh.
Others include Sussex Innovation Centre boss Mike Herd, boardroom veteran Carol Duncumb and Hove businessman Nigel Lambe, whose ventures include Small Batch Coffee, the Urchin pub and Brighton Gin.
The Chamber said: “Maybe you’d like
- rising profits, expanding offices and more employees
- the chance to develop new skills and to help others do the same
- more time for family, friends and personal growth
- to create something meaningful for us all
“At the Brighton Summit you’ll hear how other businesses have grown, how they got what they wanted and how they struggled along the way.
“You’ll spend time with other business people, who’ll help you find your way.
“And you’ll get the chance to learn new skills and take on challenges you’d never have thought you’d see at a business conference.
“This could be the day that changes your future.”
The Brighton Summit – A Day for Growing Your Business takes place at the Clarendon Centre, in New England Street, Brighton, from 8.30am to 6pm.
