The shop front of Costa Coffee on Brighton seafront collapsed this morning in high winds as hundreds of delegates were passing it on their way to the TUC conference.
Firefighters were called at 9.23am to a dangerous structure. A spokeswoman said: “East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service received a call to reports of a fallen shop hoarding at the bottom of West Street, Brighton.
“One appliance from Preston Circus fire station attended this incident and crews made the scene safe. The incident was left with the occupant.”
By 11am, workmen were on the scene to dismantle what remains of the shop front and make it safe.
The cafe is currently closed.
