Healthwatch Brighton and Hove said that it was looking for new directors to strengthen its role as a consumer champion.
The health watchdog particularly wants to hear from people with a clinical or social care background or who have legal, financial or fundraising expertise.
Healthwatch said: “We are looking for people who share our passion for establishing Healthwatch Brighton and Hove as the ‘consumer champion’ for the NHS, public health and adults’ and children’s social care services across Brighton and Hove.”
Candidates would, it said, need huge amounts of drive, energy and leadership quality.
Healthwatch Brighton and Hove became a community interest company on Wednesday 1 April.
It said that it was “engaged in strategic and high priority issues” and added: “We are going through a period of organisational change and aspiring to be a major stakeholder in health and social care debates.
“Directors will need experience of health or social care through their work or personal life.
“We are particularly interested in people who have clinical experience and/or social care, human resources, fundraising, finance and/or legal experience.
“We are also keen to recruit directors from groups whose voice tends not to be heard, for example, black and minority ethnic communities or LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer).
“Board experience and knowledge of governance arrangements would be very useful.”
The deadline to apply is at 5pm on Tuesday 1 September with interviews scheduled for Friday 11 September.
