1) Beram Kayal’s goal was not the fastest in Albion history – that honour is still held by Mahata Molango. But few appear to remember Gary O’Reilly’s winner at Charlton on New Year’s Day 1985!
2) Kayal has now scored as many goals for Albion since January as he did in five years at Celtic.
3) The date – 18 August – is still an ominous one for the Seagulls. They lost 7-1 at Huddersfield on the same date in 2009 and 4-0 at home to Arsenal on their top-flight debut in 1979.
4) It was the fifth consecutive draw between Brighton and Hove Albion and Huddersfield Town. The last time there was a winner it was the Seagulls with Leo Ulloa netting a hat-trick.
5) Huddersfield keeper Alex Smithies, who played for Town in that 7-1 mauling six years ago, is still at the club. Like Lewis Dunk he is the subject of transfer speculation and did not feature in the match last night. He is linked with a move to QPR.
