Fulham 1 Brighton & Hove Albion 2
Goals from Sam Baldock and a first for Tomer Hemed, a late penalty, secured Albion’s second win at Craven Cottage in eight months and sent the Seagulls to the top of the Championship.
Baldock slid home his first of the season after good work from Bruno Saltor.
Before this Beram Kayal hit the crossbar for Albion.
Uwe Hünemeier made his debut in central defence for the Seagulls, alongside captain Gordon Greer, fuelling speculation that Lewis Dunk’s departure may be imminent.
Tom Cairney equalised for Fulham just before half time.
Man of the moment Kazenga LuaLua sent an effort wide of the post and at the other end David Stockdale saved well from Matt Smith.
Then, dramatically, three minutes into stoppage time, Jake Forster-Caskey fed LuaLua who was upended by Fulham’s Shaun Hutchinson.
Hemed coolly dispatched the resulting penalty in front of the large following of Albion fans.
Subject to the outcome of the Wolves v Hull fixture tomorrow (Sunday 16 August) Albion travel to Huddersfield on Tuesday (18 August) as Football League leaders.
