A lorry which has got stuck while trying to turn a corner in Rottingdean village is causing tailbacks along the A259 and back up as far as Woodingdean tonight.
The HGV has been stuck in the one way system since about 9.10pm and emergency services are currently on the scene, at the junction of Vicarage Lane and the High Street.
The jam is exacerbating delays caused by a serious accident on the A27 near Lewes, which has closed the A27 from Falmer to the Kingston roundabout.
Traffic is being diverted south towards Rottingdean – where the stuck lorry is waiting for them.
Serious accident on #A27 near #Lewes. Road will be closed for a while, please avoid. @Traffic_SouthE

When cllr Hyde was elected in Rottingdean, she proposed a by-pass. To which the future Lord Bassam sent her a map and a letter in which he asked her view of this by-pass. Out to sea or fly-over above the Downs?
