Safety checks are being made to a bridge after a bus crashed into it this morning.
The empty bus collided with the bridge In North South Road on the Falmer campus at about 9am today.
A spokeswoman for the University of Sussex said: “We can confirm that a bus number 50 hit a bridge under the external section of our Pevensey 2 building beneath the Bridge Café at 9.01 this morning.
“There were no passengers aboard or any bystanders so fortunately nobody was hurt.
“Although there is no visible damage to the building, our structural engineers are performing checks as is normal for such incidents.”
Brighton and Hove Buses is investigating the crash.
Riveting stuff.
Was the bus-driver on drugs? Or did the bridge jump out in front of him and there was nothing he could do?
