An elderly woman was rescued from her home by firefighters after the roof suddenly collapsed last night.

Friends and family of the woman, who is reportedly 100-years-old, have rallied round to help her after the unwelcome surprise.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue were called to the privately-owned two-bedroom terraced home in Winchester Street at 8.22pm.
An Aerial Ladder Platform and an appliance was sent from Preston Circus and worked through the night with demolition specialists to make the area safe.
A spokeswoman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue said: “Firefighters made the area safe and the incident was left in the hands of building contractors, a building control officer, and the city council.”
Brighton and Hove City Council is investigating the collapse, and says it is not aware of any previous concerns about the structure.
A spokesman said: “The building is being made safe. The owner of the property will need to think about what they need to do next. We will be available to talk to the property owner and offer advice.”
A spokeswoman for Best Demolition said it was called to the address last night as an emergency callout.
