Meat thief John Barnett has been sentenced for stealing from two Brighton shops in a fortnight.
He stole two carrier bags of meat worth £116 from Lidl, in Arundel Road, Brighton, on Tuesday 16 June.
On Wednesday 3 June he stole meat worth £49 from Tesco, in Jubilee Street, Brighton.
Barnett, 25, of Sycamore Close, Woodingdean, also stole headphones, speakers and other items worth £390 from Home Sense, in The Quadrant, in North Street, Brighton. He targeted the shop three times in eight days.
He admitted the thefts when he appeared before Brighton magistrates. They sentenced him to carry out 150 of unpaid work over the coming year.
The bench also ordered Barnett to pay £390 compensation to Home Sense, a £180 criminal courts charge, a £60 victim surcharge and £30 prosecution costs.
The £660 will be deducted from his benefits.
