A man went armed with an industrial magnet to try to rig his chances of winning on the slot machines on the Palace Pier in Brighton.
Vladimir Ivanov, 35, admitted going equipped to steal – through a Russian interpreter – when he appeared before Brighton magistrates.
The court was told that he went to the “Pleasure Dome” on the pier in April carrying the industrial magnet.
Ivanov, of Arundel Court, in West Street, Burgess Hill, was fined £110. He was also ordered to pay a £180 criminal courts charge, a victim surcharge of £20 and £35 prosecution costs.
The bench also ordered that the industrial magnet be forfeited under the direction of the court and destroyed.
