A woman was sexually assaulted and robbed when she blacked out during an epileptic fit.
Sussex Police said that detectives were trying to find the man responsible for “a particularly nasty attack” in the early hours of Thursday morning (18 June).
The force said: “Police are investigating an incident in St Ann’s Well Gardens, Hove, in which a 24-year-old woman was sexually assaulted and had her iPod stolen while blacked out during an epileptic fit.
“The incident happened between 1am and 2am on Thursday (18 June) but was not reported to police until later in the day.”
Detective Sergeant Emma Vickers, of Brighton CID, said: “This was a particularly nasty attack, targeting someone who was extremely vulnerable.
“The victim recalls seeing a man in a hoodie walking through the park shortly before the incident. I’d ask that person to come forward as they may be able to help us with our inquiries.”
Anyone else who was in the area and who saw or heard anything suspicious or who may have other information is asked to phone Sussex Police on 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk.
Alternatively, the force said, people could contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
