A cowardly thug who attacked a man from behind and then ran off is being hunted by Sussex Police.
The victim suffered a broken jaw in the attack which happened in the early hours of Sunday 17 May, the force said today (Friday 19 June).
Sussex Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses after a man suffered a broken jaw following an assault in Brighton.
“The 49-year-old victim, who is from Staffordshire, was walking towards the Spiegeltent in Steine Gardens when he was attacked some time between 1am and 2am on Sunday 17 May.
“He was hit from behind by a man who then ran off.
“The suspect’s described as tanned, between 5ft 8in and 5ft 9in, of medium build and with medium-length dark hair. He was wearing a dark round neck jumper.
“Police would like to speak to a small group of women who were sitting on the grass very close to where the assault took place and who may have seen what happened.”
