A Hove man has been ordered to pay more than £500 for a racist outburst after being brought before a Brighton court.
Steven Preston, 52, Brunswick Place, Hove, pleaded guilty to causing Sean Chapman harassment, alarm or distress having used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour on Sunday 31 May.
The court found that the offence was racially aggravated.
Preston also admitted the same offence in the same road – Brunswick Place – and on the same date when PC Alvin Lee stepped in.
He was fined £165 for each of the offences, making £330, and ordered to pay costs of £180 and a victim surcharge of £20, making £530 in total.
