A woman form Brighton has been charged with drink driving during the annual summer crackdown by Sussex Police.
Leonie Hembling, 41, was arrested at 7.15pm on Saturday (6 June) in Lewes Road, Brighton. A member of the public saw her buying alcohol, getting into a car and then driving away.
Hembling, of Selsfield Drive, Moulsecoomb, was charged with drink driving and released on bail to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Monday 22 June.
She is one of 28 people across the county to have been charged with drink or drug driving or related so far during the month-long crackdown. It began on Monday 1 June.
Does this member of the public always call the police if they see a person purchasing alcohol and then getting in a car and driving it away . I saw at least 30 people doing this yesterday at an off licence but felt no compulsion to telephone the police ?
