A man has been arrested over the theft of two Range Rovers stolen from outside a house in Hove.
Sussex Police said: “Police are questioning a 23-year-old man after two Range Rovers were stolen from the driveway of a house in Hove and driven away.
“At about 10.20pm on Monday (18 May) intruders drove the two vehicles off the driveway in Tongdean Road while the owners were in their home.
“A black Range Rover Sport that was taken was seen travelling north on the A23 at more than 100mph but crashed into a Ford Focus, traffic lights and barriers on the roundabout at junction 9 of the M23.
“The driver escaped from the car but after officers with dogs searched the area a 23-year-old man from London was arrested.
“He was taken to hospital for treatment for minor injuries but then taken to be questioned on suspicion of theft.
“A white Range Rover Evoke that was also taken from the home in Hove has not been recovered.
“A total of 12 Range Rovers have now been stolen in Brighton and Hove since (Friday) 23 January. In each case the offenders have managed to drive the vehicles away without having the keys.
“Overall six of the vehicles have been recovered but the other six are still missing.”
Detective Sergeant Zoe Hubbard said: “Good work by officers helped track down one of the stolen cars but one of them is still missing.
“The car that was found had been fitted with false numberplates so it must have stopped at some point so the plates could be changed.
“We need to speak to anyone who saw seen people changing the numberplates of vehicles or who has found discarded plates.
“We still need residents to keep an eye open for people acting suspiciously in their area, especially if they live near people who own Range Rovers.
“If you see anyone acting suspiciously in your area, please call us urgently.
“I would also again urge Range Rover drivers to be particularly vigilant, to consider the security of their vehicles and to contact us if they have any suspicions at all about people near their property.”
Four men from Brighton aged 27, 28, 31 and 49 and a 33-year-old man from Eastbourne are all currently on bail after being arrested on suspicion of the theft of Range Rovers in the area.
