A Hove man has been charged with raping a seven-year-old girl.
Andrew Fluke, 45, appeared in custody at Brighton Magistrates’ Court charged with the rape and with trying to incite a young girl to engage in indecency via on-line video contact.
Fluke, unemployed, who currently lives in Rosslyn Avenue, Shoreham, was remanded in custody for an initial hearing at Lewes Crown Court on Friday 5 June.
The prosecution, authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service, follows an investigation by detectives from the Brighton Safeguarding Investigations Unit.
Detective Constable Stewart Cameron said: “Anyone who has concerns on learning of this or similar investigations can contact us via 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 and arrange to speak in confidence to experienced detectives.”
