A Brighton man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with murder.
Star Randel-Hanson, 49, unemployed, of Tyson Place, in Grosvenor Street, Brighton, has been charged with the murder of 70-year-old Derek Marney.
Randel-Hanson appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court today (Friday 8 May) and was ordered to be kept in custody over the weekend.
On Monday (11 May) he is due to appear before Judge Shani Barnes, the honorary recorder of Brighton and Hove, at Lewes Crown Court for a preliminary hearing.
Mr Marney’s body was found at his flat, in Vernon Terrace, off the Seven Dials, in Brighton, on Monday (4 May).
Sussex Police said that post-mortem tests were carried out yesterday (Thursday 7 May) which indicated that Mr Marney died from a stab wound.
