Two burglars tried to force their way into a property in Brighton on Monday night (27 April).
The people living at the property, in Elm Grove, Brighton, near the corner of Brading Road, heard a knock at the door just before 11pm.
When they opened the door two strangers – both men – tried to force their way in while demanding money.
Sussex Police said: “Fortunately the occupants were able to slam the door shut and the men made off.”
The men were described as white, possibly East European, about 5ft 9in tall, 25 to 30 years old, of slim build and both with stubble.
One had a shaved head with very short brown hair. The other was round faced and had short dark hair with a wet fringe that looked like it had gel in it.
Detective Constable Tom Coll, of Brighton CID, said: “This was a very scary incident for a group of innocent people who were in their own home when they were confronted.
“I would encourage anyone who saw these two men in the area to contact police as any information could be vital to our investigation.”
Anyone able to help is asked to phone Sussex Police on 101, email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
