City College is due to start work on its new construction trades training centre in Whitehawk within months.
The centre, in Wilson Avenue, Brighton, will equip generations of young people for jobs in the building sector including trades such as plumbing.
The Greater Brighton Economic Board was given a progress update at a meeting in Worthing this week.
Senior politicians and officials from Brighton and Hove and the surrounding area were told that work should start on site in late summer.
They were told: “The project will consolidate all construction trades from the current three sites into one bespoke new purpose-built centre.”
The board was also told that there may be delays in the investment of £77 million at City College and Chichester College between now and the next financial year.
