Millwall’s failure to get at least a point at Blackburn Rovers this evening (Tuesday 21 April) means that the Albion are 99.9 per cent safe from relegation.
Blackburn beat the Lions 2-0 with goals from Rudy Gestede and Jordan Rhodes.
To catch the Albion, the South Londoners would have to win both their remaining matches 12-0 on average with Albion losing against Watford and Middlesbrough without scoring a goal.
As it stands Millwall and Wigan can both still catch troubled Rotherham to determine the final two relegation places.
However, the Millers have a game in hand against beaten FA Cup semi-finalists Reading at the New York Stadium next Tuesday (28 April).
Albion of course can still have a major say in the Champsionship promotion race, starting with the fixture at home to league leaders Watford this Saturday (25 April)
