An inquest is due to be opened and adjourned in Brighton this week after a woman died on the railway in Hove at the weekend.
A local woman in her forties was hit by a train at Aldrington Station at about 9.40am on Saturday (18 April). She died at the scene.
Inspector Gary Ancell, from British Transport Police, said that officers had identified the woman and were contacting her relatives to break the news.
Inspector Ancell said that police were not treating her death as suspicious and that a file was being prepared for the coroner.
An inquest is expected to be opened and adjourned on Thursday (23 April).
The woman was struck by a Brighton to Southampton train. Power was switched off while the emergency services were in attendance and restored just before 11am.
