A student who was hit by a bus outside Churchill Square on Thursday is in hospital being treated for a fractured skull.
The 19-year-old French student, who was on a day-trip to the city, was at first thought to have only been slightly injured after she was hit at 2.30pm.
But it was later discovered her skull had been broken, and police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident.
She was taken to the Hurstwood Park neurological centre, Haywards Heath, where her condition was stabilised.
Over the weekend she was repatriated and admitted to a French hospital for further observation. Her condition remained stable.
The double decker bus involved was driven by a 55-year-old man from Peacehaven who was unhurt.
