A woman has been hit by a bus outside Churchill Square in Brighton.
Western Road was closed to traffic as police dealt with the incident, but is now reopen and services are running again with slight delays.
A spokesman for South East Ambulance Service said: “We attended the scene with three ambulance cars and an ambulance to following reports a woman had been hit by a bus.
“The crews assessed and treated her at the scene before taking her to Royal Sussex County Hospital. She was placed in a neck collar and on a long board for her injuries.”
Managing director of Brighton and Hove Buses Martin Harris said: “It is always a serious concern when an incident of this sort occurs and our investigations are underway.
“The news about the condition of the pedestrian involved appears to be very encouraging.”
A spokesman for Sussex Police said at 3pm: “Emergency services are attending a collision between a pedestrian and a bus in Western Road, Brighton, at 2.36pm on Thursday (16 April).
“Western Road is currently closed in both directions from the clock tower to Montpelier Road. Buses and other traffic are being diverted and drivers are being asked to avoid the area.
“The pedestrian, a woman, has been injured but the extent of her injuries is not known at this time.”
