Greens plan to unveil election poster in Brighton today

Brighton and Hove Greens urge councillors to reject party’s own budget

The Greens are hoping that it will be third time lucky for their plans to unveil the poster for their national election campaign in Brighton today (Monday 13 April).

Party leader Natalie Bennett is expected to join Caroline Lucas, who became Britain’s first Green MP at the 2010 general election, for the unveiling in North Road.

They had hoped to share their billboard message last Tuesday (7 April) but the Easter break appeared to prevent the contractor from being able to complete the necessary preparations.

The event was postponed until the next day (Wednesday 8 April) but once again the Greens’ plans were frustrated.

Caroline Lucas and DebsSo this morning the party is preparing to spread the message, urging people to vote big, vote brave and help make bold changes.

Natalie Bennett said: “This country desperately needs bold changes to take us away from business-as-usual politics.

“More people than ever will have a chance to vote Green at this election. Our message is clear: don’t vote for second best, vote for what you believe in.

“A Green vote at this election is one for an economy that works for everyone – where multinational companies and rich individuals pay their fair share and wages are enough to build a life on.

“It’s a vote for an NHS which is run for all of us – not for private profit. And it’s a vote for real action on climate change.”

Caroline Lucas, who hopes to retain the Brighton Pavilion seat in the House of Commons, said that only her party was willing to “stand up to the establishment”.

She said: “It’s a pleasure to be launching the Green Party’s national billboard campaign here in the constituency that I’ve been honoured to represent for the past five years.

“We have a bold message that will resonate with the people of Brighton and Hove and across the country.

“Only the Green Party is willing to stand up to the establishment parties on issues like climate change, a resilient economy and protecting the NHS.”

Meanwhile, in Brighton, one constituent was wearing her support for Caroline Lucas as she went about town – literally!

Interesting that all the Green bill boards are high up. Out of the way of those who may wish to comment with a large black pen.

I am not a Greeen Party member but I shall be voting for them this election because Caroline is such a superb local MP. I was always taught that only unintelligent people resorted to abuse – nuff said!

I was always taught that a fool and his vote are easily parted.Especially those who resort to estuary English. Nuff said, I ask you.

They must be getting desperate to retain their 1 seat in Parliament – however I am still not sure that having Natalie Bennett present is a good idea.

I hear that Brian May is also coming – I just wonder whether they’ll get Russell Brand as well?

And I wonder if Tom Druitt, Jason’s heir apparent, will be part of the cast as well?

Good to see you are keeping tabs on Green Party events.

You are obsessed with Tom Druitt. For your sake, I hope he gets elected or you will be bereft.

Well as he is leader of the Brighton & Hove Greens and resident in the middle of “green land” staning alongside his wife, the amazing Alex4, if he doesn’t make it to the council he might be forced into turning The Big Lemon Bus company into a proper ‘going enterprise’.

If John Deacon was coming, now that *would* be news… 🙂

Crikey – having to publicise the almost globally panned Green Party Election broadcast – well I assume the left-wing party faithful would find it amusing – where was Natalie (cough) Bennett?

What I really cannot understand is why Natalie Bennett feels the need to try and change things in the UK.Why didn’t She try in Oz,I went to live in different Counties to learn about Their way of life ,not to try and change it to how I thought they would like to live Theirs.

So the Greens want to ban sports involving animals (i.e Grand National), but refuse to condemn the absolute horrific practice of Halal meat production.

Seems the Greens are more worried about offending a certain minority, instead of defending animal rights!
