A court has ordered a Brighton man charged with stabbing a 19-year-old woman to await trial for attempted murder in prison.
Jamiv Usman, 30, unemployed, of Meadowview, Bevendean, was remanded in custody by Brighton magistrates at a short hearing this morning (Monday 30 March).
Usman refused to wear a top when he appeared before the bench.
He is due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on Thursday 9 April.
Usman was charged with attempted murder after a woman was stabbed in the early hours of Saturday morning (28 March).
Sussex Police officers went to a property in Meadowview shortly after midnight.
A 19-year-old woman appeared to have been stabbed several times. She had boarded a bus near by and an ambulance had been called.
The woman was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton where she was treated for injuries that were described as serious but not life-threatening. Her condition was said to be stable.
