Protesters waved placards and unfurled a banner in protest at benefit sanctions outside the Brighton job centre.
The demo, organised by Brighton Benefits Campaign, Brighton Unemployed Workers Centre (Hollingdean) and Unite Community, was part of the National Day of Action against sanctions on Thursday.
The Unite union, which organised the action, claims more than two million people across the UK have had their benefits stopped over the past two years for what it branded “ridiculous” reasons such as being late for a meeting with a Job Centre advisor or missing an appointment as a result of a funeral.
For questions about future campaigning and meetings please phone the Brighton Unemployed Workers Centre on 01273 540717 and ask for Josephina.
