Whalefest opens this morning (Saturday 14 March) at the Brighton Centre.
The event is the biggest event of its kind in the world, combining entertainment, education and passion with talks, exhibits and campaigns.
At least a dozen life-size whale and dolphin models are on display at Whalefest today and tomorrow.
And there is an array of tail-fin art by various artists from Brighton, commissioned for the event and available to buy to raise money for some of the causes supported by Whalefest.
Profits from the weekend also go to a global partnership of organisations working together as the World Cetacean Alliance.
Whalefest started in Brighton four years ago when the founders Ian Rowlands and Dylan Walker set about creating the biggest, most popular event of its kind.
They hoped to touch the hearts and minds of a huge audience, inspiring them to be an army of ambassadors to defend whales, dolphins, marine life and oceans.
Those exhibiting include Visit Azores, one of the world’s best whale-watching holiday destinations, and Sea Shepherd, whose UK director Jessie Treverton lives in Brighton.
The event runs from 9am to 5.30pm and tickets cost £14 for an adult, £3.50 for a child and £30 for a family.
