The A27 Brighton bypass is jammed this morning (Tuesday 10 March) after a crane broke down near the Hollingbury turn-off.
Rush-hour traffic was reporting to be queuing as far back as Portslade.
A minor accident on the other side of the road contributed to a queue stretching back to Falmer.
And some drivers were delayed coming into and leaving Brighton on the A23.
Alternative routes are busier than normal as a result, with knock-on effects being felt in Carden Avenue, Coldean Lane and Ditchling Road in particular.
