Police are warning people in Coldean to be on their guard after a spate of calls about a window cleaner who claims to diabetic which they think may be a scam.
Several people, mainly older and vulnerable, contacted police to say a man had knocked on their door saying he was a window cleaner and asking for a glass of water with a spoon of sugar for his diabetes.
But while people fetch him the sugary water, he then goes through their belongings.
Neighbourhood police have asked people to call 999 if they are approached, and if already targeted, to call 101 to report it.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said they were still establishing whether anyone had fallen victim to the “scam” and were investigating as part of Operation InRoad, which deals with bogus callers.
