Police are appealing for witnesses to a report of a woman attacking a man and woman in the street in Brighton with her handbag.
Officers have been told that the victims, described as wearing Goth-style clothing, were confronted by the woman near the traffic lights at the junction of Castle Square and Old Steine at about 3am on 4 January.
It is believed that the woman, who appeared to be in her late teens or early twenties, was shouting abuse and hitting the couple with her handbag and stepped into the road on a number of occasions, prompting the drivers of cars to honk their horns at her to get our of the way.
Detective Constable Leianne Blampied said: “This has been reported to us by a third party so we do not know who the victims were or whether they were injured or not. They did not report it to police.
“We need to speak to any of the people involved and any motorists who may have seen the woman going into the road during the argument.
“If you saw or heard anything at all, please contact us.”
