Chinese doctors are to spend three months learning how staff work and patients are treated at a Brighton hospital trust.
The first five doctors have already arrived at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs the Royal Sussex County Hospital.
They are spending time in the paediatrics, gynaecology and accident and emergency (A&E) departments.
Six more Chinese doctors are expected to arrive in March under the same contract.
The arrangement was shared with the hospital trust board meeting this morning (Monday 26 January) in a report from the chief executive Matthew Kershaw.
Mr Kershaw also said that a new dean of the Brighton and Sussex Medical School had been started work.
Malcolm Reed is a breast surgeon and specialises in oncological research. Professor Reed is due to visit the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital next month (February) to see the educational and research contributions of the Royal Alex for himself.
The General Medical Council (GMC) is due to visit the medical school in May.
This feels like a list of disparate facts and there is an error in one of the sentences. Hardly a great interpretation of events that constitute good news – probably great news for our local hospitals
