A teenager has been fined for assaulting a police officer on Brighton seafront.
Abdul Rahman Deghayes, 18, of Roman Way, Southwick, denied the attack when he appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court today (Monday 19 January).
But magistrates found Deghayes guilty of assaulting PC Upton, of Sussex Police, in the execution of his duty as a constable.
The trial was told that the incident happened in Marine Parade, Brighton, on Saturday 18 October.
Deghayes was fined £110 and ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge. No order was made to pay costs.
He was also ordered to be detained in the courthouse although he was released having already spent time in custody beforehand.
