A man has been charged with rape after a woman was attacked outside Ardingly Court in the Kemp Town area of Brighton last Monday (January 5).
Philip Olliver, 32, a technician of West Lane, Lancing has been charged with two counts of rape, sexual assault and possession of class B drug.
He appeared at Brighton Magistrates Court on January 10 and has been remanded to appear at Lewes Crown Court on January 30.
Philip Oliver (32) is currently on trial at Lewes Crown Court for this matter. During the trial Oliver who could be seen behind a protective screen was often smiling over towards the public gallery even when the harrowing details of the night in question were recalled by the prosecution and police witness. It appears that Oliver went out on the night of the alleged offense with the sole intention of engaging in sexual activity, he freely admits under caution that he often goes to known ‘dogging’ sites seeking sexual interaction with strangers. On the night in question Oliver went to one such dogging site and watched a couple have sex in their car while joined by other male strangers at a location near to Brighton.
Not having been satisfied he went on to prowl the streets of Brighton looking for sex as he described under caution he was looking for people that might want to have sex at other locations in and around Brighton, it was during this time that he met the alleged victim. The trial continues…
